Many people have the ability to plan their lives and set priorities, and others may let it come as it comes, or as they said in the proverbs, “The place where you lay down is knocked for it.” This may appear to some that this person does not care or neglects his affairs, but the matter is according to popular literature. It was not so, as Dr. Khaled Abu Al-Lail, Professor of Folklore at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, said that the meaning of this popular proverb is due to its Bedouin origin story.

And the professor of popular literature continued that it is said that in a long time in a Bedouin tribe there was a king and a minister who were undercover to explore the conditions of the subjects, and they walked in the city from its beginning to its borders, knocking on all the doors, and no one received them, and no one satisfied their hunger, whether from the owners of palaces or from others who owned goods and trade .

The professor of popular literature added that the king knocked on one of the tents located on the outskirts of the city, and found a Bedouin family in it, and they had nothing from the wreckage of the world except a camel, with which they drank milk or transported goods to merchants and took the wages, but their shabby condition did not prevent them from honoring guests who did not know that they were a king and a minister. Al-Badawi’s mother is wise and a believer, and she insisted on honoring the guests and providing them with food, so she told her son to slaughter the camel and present it to the guests. Indeed, Al-Badawi listened to his mother’s words, and presented the meat of the camel after its slaughter to the king and the minister.

The wise king knew that they only owned this camel, since they did not provide anything besides meat, so he knew that they gave everything they owned, so the king offered some money to the Bedouin, but he refused and told him that honoring the guest does not expect anything in return from him, so the king went, but the story of the Bedouin kept occupying him Despite the occupations of life, he returned to him after a while and found that he had built a luxurious house and had a great business, and when he asked him where all this came from, Al-Badawi said that after his departure, a storm arose that took the tent from its place and started running like a ball from the strength of the wind, but when he ran after it his mother advised him to “Mattrah” Don’t anchor it, meaning that you don’t rush and run after it, and leave it until it stands, then knock the tent and fix it again, and indeed after it stood up and the Bedouin began to fix the tent again, he found a treasure while he was digging for it, and from that time his life changed for the better.
