The Director of the Meteorological Department, Raed Al-Khattab, said that the city of Al-Salt is exposed to a violent thunderstorm and very heavy rains with heavy hail.
He added, in a statement today, Wednesday, that the radar images in the meteorology show the places of rainfall, as the western regions (northern, central and southern) witness rain with heavy hail of varying intensity, and the presence of thunder clouds in different regions of them.
He pointed out that the Kingdom has been witnessing, since this morning, an air depression that extends through the upper layers of the atmosphere, which is associated with a cold and moist air mass, as the temperatures decreased significantly and the maximum temperatures were recorded below their general rates for this time of the year by about 9-10 degrees.
According to Al-Khattab, it is expected that the precipitation will be heavy for limited periods, sometimes in the western parts of the Kingdom, which will lead to the formation of torrential rains in the valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea, as well as accompanied by thunderstorms and showers of hail.
In Tafilah, the southern highlands and the regions of Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Ais today witnessed intermittent showers of light snow, hail, and heavy thunderstorms.
According to the rainfall report issued by the Tafila Agriculture Directorate, the cumulative total amount of precipitation to date has reached 246 millimeters, compared to the cumulative total rainfall for the same period last year, which amounted to 137 mm, just as the storage amounts of the Tannour Dam amounted to about 5 million and 500 thousand cubic meters of water. rains.
The governor of Tafila, Dr. Muhammad Abu Jamous, said that the main and subsidiary operating rooms in the official service departments and emergency teams equipped with machinery and equipment monitor the conditions of roads in the governorate and the continuity of traffic, and follow up the effects of the weather condition and its consequences around the clock.
The governor indicated in a press statement that the situation is going on as usual in Tafilah and some southern regions, explaining that the emergency teams in public works, civil defense, joint services and municipalities, through their mechanisms, removed light snow in the regions of Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Ain Al-Bayda and Basira.
He pointed out that the heights of Al-Hala witnessed light snowfall, calling on main road users in the southern regions to exercise caution due to the spread of thick fog and the possibility of more snow and hail.
