The Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmy Governorate, said that the outputs of the ministry’s plan to develop the general secondary exam include branching students into two academic and vocational tracks after completing the study of the ninth grade at the end of the current academic year 2022/2023.

In a meeting with the Education Committee in the Senate, headed by Al-Ain Dr. Mahasen Al-Jaghoub, the governorate added, on Tuesday, that these students are the first to whom the developed study plan and the instructions of the developed general secondary examination apply.

And he indicated that the study subjects in the developed plan for grades 11 and 12 include common general culture subjects, and specialized subjects that the student chooses according to his tendencies closest to the specialization that the student will study at the university.

With regard to the stage of the general secondary school exam, the governorate explained that the exam will be held over two years, so that the student will apply for the exam in the first year of it after completing the study of the eleventh grade subjects in the joint general culture investigations, starting from the academic year 2024/2025.

Vocational education

Regarding vocational education, he indicated that there is a great demand for vocational education in the Kingdom, pointing out that the ministry is studying the establishment of major vocational schools, after allocating funds from the ministry’s budget for that purpose.

And he indicated that the ministry reviewed international experiences with regard to vocational education, especially in developed countries, and found that some of them are applied in Jordan, such as the curriculum adopted by many educational institutions in the Kingdom, such as Al-Hussein Technical University, Al-Khwarizmi College, and Luminus College.
