The Independent Election Commission confirmed its commitment to implementing the provisions of the Parties Law under the constitutional responsibility, which was entrusted to it after the constitutional amendments of 2022, noting that some published press statements and news about activities they carry out as “parties under establishment” without submitting requests to register parties in the commission and completing legal procedures. required.
The commission confirmed, through its spokesperson, Muhammad Khair Al-Rawashdeh, that it deals with the provisions of the parties law in force without any jurisprudence that contradicts the texts, and that any violation of the law will be dealt with in accordance with legal and judicial requirements, which enhances the standards of justice and impartiality in the commission’s dealings with all parties. It is the role it plays in terms of its constitutional and legal duties.
The Independent Election Commission recalled that the Parties Law specified the requirements for establishing a party in accordance with the provisions of Article 8, and confirmed that Paragraph (c) of Article 11 of the same law stipulated that: The party is not considered established during the period between the application for establishment and the convening of the constituent conference and takes the adjective ( Under formation), which is the adjective that gives the party “the right to carry out its preparatory and promotional political activities for its principles, and to attract members, provided that it is indicated that the party is “under formation” in any media materials” according to Paragraph (d) of Article 11.
Al-Rawashdeh said that two parties have submitted two applications to the Commission recently, namely: the Civil Democratic Party and the Taqaddam Party, and their papers are under scrutiny and study, while three parties took the status of being established earlier and awaiting the completion of the requirements for holding the constituent conference, namely the Sama Jordan Democratic Party and Namaa. , and seeing.
And the Independent Election Commission had announced earlier that 13 parties had completed the conditions and requirements of the provisions of the law, namely: the Jordanian Democratic People (Hashd), Musawat al-Urduni, Qudwa al-Urduni, al-Nahj al-Jadid, the National Coalition, the Islamic Action Front, the Blessed Land, Shura, and the National Pact. Social Democrats, Unionists, National Union, and Irada Party.
It is noteworthy that the party registry in the Independent Election Commission is currently examining requests to reconcile the status of 18 parties, and those parties will have a deadline no later than mid-May to hold their general conference, in which the conditions for the founding conference must be met, otherwise the party will be dissolved in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission decided to approve the placement of the Party Registrar, so that the 20th of the current month of April will be the last date for submitting the papers of parties wishing to regularize their status, before the end of the deadline set by the law, in order to study requests for regularization within the specified time frame to complete the provisions. Enforce the law fairly.
