“Tourism of Representatives” is considering stopping the recognition of naval certificates from an Arab country

The head of the Parliamentary Tourism, Antiquities and Public Services Committee, Obaid Yassin, said that the committee is concerned with following up and monitoring all the procedures followed by the independent bodies that come within the jurisdiction of the committee, especially the Jordanian Maritime Authority. .
This came during a meeting designated by the committee today, Monday, to follow up the progress of work within the vision of economic modernization regarding the work of the Jordanian Maritime Authority, and the issue of temporarily stopping the recognition of Jordanian naval certificates by an Arab country.
Yassin added, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Eng. Wissam Al-Tahtamoni, and the Director of the Maritime Authority, Noman Al-Saifi, that “Tourism of Representatives” came out with a set of recommendations related to the issue of granting a number of students certificates of dubious authenticity issued by the Maritime Authority, indicating that the committee agreed to transfer this file To the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate this case and hold those responsible accountable.
He called for the formation of a committee composed of representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Maritime Authority and a number of experts in the maritime transport sector to verify all what was stated in the authority’s book and the recommendations contained therein regarding the container safety file issued to the Minister of Transport, indicating that in the event that the points contained in this book are proven incorrect This file will be requested to be transferred to the judiciary.
And Yassin indicated that the committee agreed to form a small committee that includes deputies: Muhammad al-Khalayleh, Majid al-Rawashdeh, Ramzi al-Ajarma and Aisha al-Hasanat, whose task is to follow up on the container safety file and the issue of suspended certificates.
In turn, the deputies: Muhammad al-Maharmeh, Majid al-Rawashdeh, Dina al-Bashir, Ramzi al-Ajarmah, Aisha al-Hasanat, Muhammad al-Khalayleh, Ali al-Ghazawi, Mahmoud al-Farajat, Talal al-Nisour, Osama al-Qawabeh, stressed the need to follow up and investigate all files that are marred by suspicions of corruption and refer the negligent ones to the judiciary.
They said that such issues, if not corrected and addressed, will have a negative impact on the national economy, which is now in a corrective phase in line with the royal visions to modernize the economic system, calling for the need to open channels of communication with all parties to address this problem and limit its aggravation. Preserving the reputation and status of Jordanian certificates and expertise.
For his part, Al-Saifi said that the Authority has accurate statistics on all workers in the maritime sector, who number 1,632 officers and marine engineers, explaining that the certificates of questionable validity did not exceed 27 certificates, and they were counted and suspended.
