A member of the Freedoms Committee of the Islamic Action Front party called for lawyer Abdel Qader Al-Khatib in his statements to “compass“The security authorities immediately released the former deputy head of the Teachers Syndicate, Dr. Nasser Nawasra, the teacher Ayman Al-Akour, and all their colleagues, after they arrested them on the background of calling for a peaceful sit-in demanding the rights of teachers.
Al-Khatib said that Al-Nawasra, Al-Akour, and their colleagues called for a peaceful sit-in, and they were arrested in violation of the law and the constitution, which guarantees the right to express an opinion.
He pointed out that this detention is arbitrary, unjustified and not based on the law, a procedure that has become frequent whenever teachers call for sit-ins to defend the rights of their colleagues, with the aim of intimidating them and preventing them from claiming their rights.
Al-Khatib also held the government fully responsible for the health and safety of Al-Nawasra and his colleagues, especially since he was arrested inside the Founding King Hospital in Irbid while he was ill.
Al-Khatib concluded his statements to “Al-Bawsala” by saying: They must be immediately released and the security grip ceased. All teachers’ activities are based on the law and the constitution that guarantees public rights and freedoms.
The son of the deputy head of the Teachers Syndicate, Nasser Al-Nawasra, announced the arrest of his father while he was in the Founding King Abdullah Hospital in Irbid Governorate.
According to Nawasra’s son, his father came to the hospital for a periodic review, as he had previously operated on his foot, before the security services stopped him there.
The arrest of Al-Nawasra came before a sit-in called by the National Campaign for the Defense of Affected Teachers, in front of the Irbid Governorate building on Tuesday, to condemn the arrest of a number of active teachers in the city.
The son of Al-Nawasra confirmed that the planned vigil will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon in front of the governorate building, as a new event to restore the rights of the affected teachers.
