The representative of the communications and information technology sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Haitham Al-Rajubeh, confirmed that digital transformation is a major driver of economic and social development, which requires accelerating the digitization of more government services.
He said in a statement today, Monday, that Jordan was one of the first countries in the region that adopted digital transformation in many economic sectors, especially in the financial, agricultural, industrial and health services sectors.
He added that digital transformation saves operational costs, contributes to simplifying and accelerating procedures for services provided to citizens, and provides opportunities to provide high-quality services with transparency, monitor performance, and link between public and private sector institutions, to ensure data quality and protection.
He explained that the National Strategy for Digital Transformation and the Implementation Plan 2021-2025 provides a strategic framework for Jordan’s digital transformation, and clarifies the necessary strategic changes and requirements, to keep pace with the global progress in digital transformation, and improve the delivery of government services.
Al-Rajabeh pointed out that business owners and investors are now directing their investments to countries that have a ready and developed infrastructure in the matter of digital transformation and automation of services, referring to the government services provided through the (Sanad) application, which has significantly doubled during the recent period.
He pointed out that the vision of economic modernization emphasized the necessity of accelerating the pace of digital transformation of the public sector through establishing partnerships with the private sector, which has great experience in this regard, noting that many Jordanian companies have implemented digital transformation projects in Arab countries.
He pointed out that the vision of economic modernization stressed the need to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as an attractive investment center for digital innovation and a launching pad for scalable digital solutions. And developing it to become a center for providing digitally enabled, high-value services, and benefiting from the skills groups, infrastructure, system, and strategic geographical location of the Kingdom.
According to the vision of economic modernization, the number of workers in the communications and information technology sector in 2021 reached about 25 thousand workers, constituting 1.6 percent of the total employment volume in the Kingdom, while their number will reach 101 thousand full-time workers in 2033.
