Jordanian trucks coming from the UAE, loaded with various ration goods, began leaving the Saudi Batha crossing towards Jordan, according to truck drivers.
Truck drivers said that the Saudi authorities have restored the work system to service after it was disrupted for at least 13 days, but with a “very weak” movement.
They added that the workers at the Batha crossing (Saudi customs) entered the information of the driver and the truck into the work system for its passage towards Jordan, as there are Jordanian trucks that left the crossing towards Jordan and then will head to the Palestinian territories and others to Syria.
The Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, Abdul Rahim Al-Wreikat, indicated, in his interview with Al-Mamlaka, that the trucks started moving towards Jordan after fixing the malfunction in the work system that occurred a few days ago, in addition to the manual data entry process.
Al-Wreikat indicated that it will take some time for trucks to pass through Al-Batha crossing, due to the presence of a large number of trucks of different nationalities.
He said that the authority was and still is in contact with the Jordanian Customs Department.
Al-Wreikat had previously said that a technical malfunction in the work systems at the Saudi Al-Bathaa customs led to the disruption of transportation between the UAE and Saudi sides.
According to estimates by truck drivers currently at the Batha crossing, there are about 400 Jordanian trucks in the UAE, of which at least 250 are stuck at the border, and the others are carrying goods from the UAE side in preparation for their transfer to Jordan.
