A member of the Association of Tourism and Travel Agents, representative of the Hajj and Umrah sector in the association, Bilal Rubin, said that the turnout of Jordanians for Umrah trips during the current month of Ramadan is weak, compared to 2019 before the Corona virus pandemic. As the number of applications submitted for Umrah so far is still small.

And Rubin indicated that the cost of the Umrah trip during Ramadan ranges between 280 and 300 dinars by land per person in a quadruple room in regular hotels, and by air between 475 and 500 dinars in quadruple rooms in regular hotels.

With regard to the pilgrimage season, Rubin indicated that the current season is one of the most expensive pilgrimage seasons for Jordanians. As the cost of the pilgrim’s trip in the quadruple room reaches 3200 dinars, which is a very high price.

He attributed the reasons for the high prices to the proximity of hotels to the Haram, and the exclusion of Chinese buses less than 2019 from transporting pilgrims, noting that Jordanian law and Saudi law allow all buses over 2014 to transport pilgrims, after undergoing a very careful technical examination.

Rubin pointed out that some proposals were made to reduce the cost of Hajj, represented by increasing the distance between hotels in which pilgrims live and the Haram to reach approximately 1750 meters instead of 1500 meters, and adopting all buses over the year 2014 to transport pilgrims, to reduce costs for the pilgrim.
