Amman – Raed Sbeih

During the past two days, the markets witnessed an active movement after submitting the salary payment date, which encouraged citizens to turn out to buy basic commodities, especially those related to the needs of Ramadan, which economists saw as an opportunity for the government to reconsider its view of the market economy, especially in seasons such as Ramadan, winter and others, and to provide facilitating conditions for Citizens in a way that reflects positively and effectively on the movement of trade and markets.

In turn, the economist Hossam Ayesh confirmed in his statements to “compassAnd that “the month of Ramadan is one of the months in which people’s spending rises, and the advent of the holy month coincides with the end of the month and the date for paying salaries and wages to employees. This came as an opportunity for them to buy their needs, especially since citizens with experience know that prices rise in Ramadan and every family was trying to She saves as much as she can spend by going to the market and buying at least basic needs.”

Liquidity is the most important tool

Ayesh pointed out that “one of the important tools for spending is the availability of liquidity, but despite this, in light of conditions in which interest rates and inflation rates rise, reducing liquidity becomes a goal in itself, and this is what central banks in the world are working on.”

Hossam Ayesh: The Ramadan season is an opportunity and an additional lesson for all sectors to improve the economic situation

At the same time, he stressed that the idea is not to provide liquidity as much as it is an opportunity and a test that people can allow for an improvement in economic and commercial performance, if they are provided with appropriate income, and if the growth rates are higher than what we achieve and this is reflected in the per capita income rate, and thus improved. His ability to spend in a way that leads to a better economic process than the prevailing one.

And Ayesh added, “Also, it is the experience that we lived before Ramadan. It is an additional test that many shops and malls were presenting offers, and this carries with it the meaning that the lower the costs, the more that helps people to spend more.”

He pointed out that “one of the costs that can affect this ability is taxes, fees, and additional government costs, in addition to the private sector’s modesty in its profitability. And the government has to reconsider many of the fees and taxes imposed, and citizens in this case will increase their income and improve their spending.”

Ayesh continued: This is in addition to the fact that the improvement comes on two levels, at the level of spending in general, and at the level of sectors that can benefit from this spending, and this is also important, because some sectors complain of a decline in spending on their needs.

He added, “So in fact, this is a kind of additional lesson that all parties are supposed to take into consideration, leading to a better and better economic process.”

Dedicating the concept of facilitation to citizens

The economist stressed that “we have to dedicate a new concept regarding how to facilitate matters in front of improving the consumption of citizens and consumers, and this requires that there be at least in the different seasons, including the Ramadan season and the winter season, and that we take care of the economies of these seasons in a way that leads to improving people’s ability to spend.” And for the government to take into consideration that these seasons have their own requirements and economic and social conditions that necessitate a change in policies during these seasons.

He stressed the need for the “commercial and private sectors” to cooperate in improving economic conditions and providing an appropriate environment, pointing out that this sector is required today to provide good goods to the consumer and to accept small profits, because the volume of its sales will increase in relation to the improvement in citizens’ spending.

Market movement improved after the payroll

Member of the Amman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Asaad Al-Qawasmi, said, on Saturday, that the disbursement of employees’ salaries by some institutions contributed to revitalizing the movement in the market, indicating that the purchase movement is linked to the consumer’s priorities, as purchasing behavior is directed towards basic materials such as foodstuffs now.

Al-Qawasmi said in a statement to “The Kingdom” that the activity of the market after the payment of salaries is an indication that the availability of liquidity plays a role in enhancing purchasing power, noting that the active movement has not yet included sectors such as clothes, shoes, and others.

He pointed out that the process of postponing installments by banks provides liquidity, as the value of installments per month is estimated at 250 million dinars.

He added that the postponement of installments is not only through banks, but also through funds such as the Women’s Fund, Agricultural Credit, Hajj and Orphans Fund, and others.
