A British family was shocked after they found three giant wasp nests the size of “space hoppers” hanging in one of the rooms of the new house. Eve Olt, 25, and her family moved to Macclesfield about five months ago, but they did not enter the upper room until recently after finding New entry.

The homeowners were in for a shock when they stuck their heads into the narrow ceiling space, only to find three giant wasp nests lurking on the rafters.

The nests were about 70 cm wide

Eve said the nests were at least about 70cm wide, and that it would cost hundreds of pounds to remove them. Ms Ault, the online business owner, said: ‘I live with my family in the family home, and just last week we went to the upper room for the first time. And we hadn’t gone in yet, we’d been here for five months, and neither of us had been there because it was through a little hole, and we didn’t know we could go in from there where we did.”

Nests took up a lot of space in the room

“It was a shock, there were these nests, three of them took up a lot of room because it’s such a small space,” she said. We don’t really use it for anything.”

The family, who live in a three-storey Victorian country house, voiced their fears and removed the nests by hand, only to find a number of dead insects inside.
