Al-Tarawneh: (15,403) work injuries, including (196) injuries, were recorded during the year (2021).

The Director General of the Social Security Corporation, Dr. Muhammad Al-Tarawneh, said that the Corporation has placed among its priorities increasing its effectiveness in motivating and qualifying establishments and individuals to adhere to the application of occupational safety and health conditions and standards in the Social Security Law, stressing that it will support establishments by providing moral incentives to those who obtain (90 %) or more in the evaluation conducted by the Corporation for this purpose, and granting financial or moral incentives to establishments or individuals who obtain advanced ranks in the Social Security Award for Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety according to principles issued by the Board of Directors of the Corporation for this purpose.

Al-Tarawneh indicated that the analytical report on work injuries issued by the Occupational Safety and Work Injuries Department in the institution after an analytical study it conducted on registered and approved work injuries in the guarantee during the year (2021) reveals that occupational safety and health conditions in various establishments are not at the desired level, as the numbers it includes indicate The report indicates an increase in the percentage of work injuries approved by the Corporation for the year (2021) by (27.4%) compared to the year (2020), and that the rates of injury are still relatively high, as the Corporation recorded a work accident every (25) minutes in all sectors.

He explained that the Corporation has put in its strategy goals and initiatives to reduce and prevent work-related injuries and has worked to develop its services in this field by improving the mechanism for reporting work accidents and developing the foundations and mechanism for treating the injured by contracting with the medical treatment authorities in line with the Corporation’s directions to facilitate procedures and work with a better quality.

Al-Tarawneh indicated that the Foundation is looking forward to building real partnerships based on follow-up, cooperation and coordination with all concerned parties in the matter of occupational safety in order to create a safe and healthy work environment for workers. Promoting and disseminating a culture of occupational safety and health among the various work environments, and verifying the compliance of establishments and individuals with occupational safety and health conditions and standards.

Al-Tarawneh reviewed some indicators and data related to work injuries for the year (2021), which concluded that the number of accidents registered with the Corporation increased to reach (21,388) accidents in various sectors, of which (15,403) were approved as work injuries, at a rate of (72%) of the total accidents recorded in that year. While the number of infected deaths reached (196) out of the total approved injuries.

In addition, the general incidence rate for the year (2021) amounted to (11.7) work injuries per (1000) insured, while the rate of work injuries in the private economic sectors reached (16.5) injuries per (1000) insured persons, where the percentage of work injuries accounted for Which resulted in cured cases (59.2%) of the total injuries in the year (2021), and the cases of permanent disability and injury death accounted for (26.5%), noting that some injuries had not yet stabilized, at a rate of (2.6%) of the total. injuries.

Al-Tarawneh indicated that (12,851) work injuries occurred in the private economic sectors for the year (2021); Where the manufacturing industries sector occupied the highest number in recording injuries, amounting to (4057) work injuries, with a rate of (31.6%), followed by the health and social work sector, with (2830) injuries, with a rate of (22%), then the wholesale and retail traders sector with (2169) injuries. With a rate of (16.9%), while the highest incidence rate was in the health and social work sector, the manufacturing sector, and the mining and quarrying sector, with an incidence rate of (64.2%), (20.7%), and (19.8%) injuries per (1000). Insured consecutively in the same year.

Al-Tarawneh added that the total number of infected deaths in the private economic sectors reached (79) deaths during the year (2021), including (37) deaths resulting from road accidents, at a rate of (46.8%), followed by explosions and people falling with (8) deaths, at a rate of (10.1%). ), while the manufacturing industries sector recorded (20) fatalities, at a rate of (25.3%), followed by the wholesale and retail traders sector, with (14) deaths, at a rate of (17.7%), while the death toll rates were in the construction sector, followed by the mining sector. and quarrying, then the health and social work sector, with a rate of (33.4), (27), and (20.4) deaths per 100,000 insured persons, respectively.

With regard to the causes of injuries occurring in the private economic sectors; Al-Tarawneh explained that the fall of people occupied the highest incidence of work injuries for the year (2021), with a number of (3602) injuries, at a rate of (28.03%), followed by manual work tools, with a number of (1529) work injuries, at a rate of (11.9%) for the same year, and then injuries resulting from Objects fell by (1244) injuries, with a rate of (9.68%).

Al-Tarawneh explained that the injuries that resulted in a disability of (30%) or more for the year (2021) amounted to (34) injuries due to people falling, followed by road accidents with (19) injuries out of the total injuries in the private economic sectors, and that the number of injuries that resulted in A disability of less than (30%) amounted to (1255) injuries resulting from falling people, followed by machinery and equipment with (381) injuries.

As for the age group in the private economic sectors for the year (2021), Tarawneh indicated that the number of injuries that occurred to those under the age of (30) years amounted to (5897), with a rate of (45.9%), while the highest rate of injuries was in this category. The age group is less than (20) years (29.4) injuries per (1000) insured persons, followed by the age group (20-24) years with an incidence rate of (25.2) work injuries per (1000) insured persons.

As for the occupation of the injured person in the private economic sectors during the year (2021), Al-Tarawneh indicated that work injuries among factory operators and assembly workers recorded the highest rate, reaching (14.52%), with (1866) injuries, followed by craftsmen, with (12%), and (1542). One injury out of the total number of injuries, while the death toll among factory operators and assembly workers constituted the highest percentage, at (13.9%), with (11) deaths out of the total number of infected deaths.

As for injuries according to the size of employment in the private economic sectors, Tarawneh indicated that work injuries with a workforce of (1000) workers or more constituted the highest rate during the year (2021), with (3060) injuries, at a rate of (24.1%) of the total injuries, while the rate formed The incidence of injuries in establishments with a workforce of (500) to (999) amounted to (26) injuries per (1000) insured, and establishments with a workforce of (1) to (4) workers had the highest rate of injury deaths, amounting to (13). ) death, with a rate of (16.7%) of the total deaths in the private economic sectors, amounting to (79) deaths, and the establishments with employment size from (5) to (9) workers occupied the highest rate of incidence of injury deaths at a rate of (17.8) deaths per one hundred thousand people .

As for the nationality of the incidence of work injuries and accidental deaths in the private economic sectors, Tarawneh explained that the number of work injuries for the insured Jordanians reached (11140) injuries in the year (2021), with a rate of (86.7%) of the total injuries amounting to (12851) injuries, while the number of injuries amounted to (12851) injuries. The number of work injuries for non-Jordanians (1711) for the same year, at a rate of (13.3%), while the rate of work injuries for Jordanians reached (17.7) work injuries for every (1000) Jordanian insured in the year (2021), while the rate of work injuries for non-Jordanians reached (17.7) Jordanians had (11.3) injuries per (1,000) non-Jordanian insured persons for the same year, while the number of infected deaths for Jordanian insured persons reached (64), with a rate of (81%), and for non-Jordanians (15) deaths, with a rate of (19%) of the total infected deaths. With regard to the gender of the injured in the private economic sectors, Tarawneh stated that the number of work injuries for the female insured amounted to (2475), i.e. (19.3%) of the total injuries, with an incidence rate of (10.2) injuries for every (1000) insured women, and (10376) for the insured. Males at a rate of (80.7%), with an incidence rate of (19.3) injuries per (1,000) insured, while the number of female injuries in 2021 reached (9), at a rate of (11.4%) in the same year, and (70) deaths among males, at a rate (88.6%) of the total deaths.

With regard to the types of injuries in the private economic sectors, Al-Tarawneh explained that work injuries, which concentrated in bruises, amounted to (4520), at a rate of (35.17%), followed by injuries sustained in a number of (2361), at a rate of (18.37%), while most work injuries were concentrated in Injuries to the upper extremities of the injured person’s body amounted to (4404), with a rate of (34.3%), followed by (3233) injuries to the lower extremities, with a rate of (25.2%) of the total injuries.

As for the month and day of the injury in the public and private sectors, Tarawneh indicated that the month of March had the highest rate of injuries, with (2018) injuries out of the total number of injuries, and it also had the highest number of deaths with (18) deaths, adding that Sunday Each week, it had the highest number of injuries, with (2443) work injuries, and it also had the highest number of fatalities with (32), while the number of deaths on Friday reached (6) of the total deaths.
