The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources revealed a delay in the electrical interconnection project between Jordan and Iraq, for which the foundation stone was laid at the beginning of last October.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Amani Al-Azzam, in her response to “Roya’s” inquiries, on Tuesday, attributed the delay to logistical and weather conditions.
It was planned to operate the project with a capacity of 150 megawatts in the fourth quarter of this year, according to Al-Azzam, who indicated a change in the work program on the Iraqi side due to weather conditions and contractual matters.
The Jordan Electricity Company had initiated the procedures for implementing the electrical interconnection project with Iraq by preparing the necessary bids for the construction of the new Al-Rishah substation and the extension of the link between it and the Al-Qaim substation in Iraq.
