Al-Bawsala – Two specialists in the fuel sector expected, on Monday, that the price of diesel and kerosene would be fixed locally for the next month.

Specialists Fahd Al-Fayez and Hashem Akl said that the prices of oil derivatives rose in the first two weeks of this month, but decreased in the third week.

Akl expected the prices of all oil derivatives to be fixed, while Al-Fayez expected the price of gasoline to rise by about 15 to 20 fils.

Al-Fayez called on the government to reconsider the flat tax on diesel and gasoline, and to stop it for a certain period, taking into account the economic conditions.

And Akl believed that “the possibility of fixing the prices of oil derivatives is the closest to approval at the beginning of next month.”

He said that gasoline 90 rose by 1%, equivalent to 10 fils.

Also, gasoline 95 rose by less than 0.5%.

“As for kerosene, it increased by a high rate of about 5%, bearing in mind that the price of kerosene will not be affected by any increase, and in return it will benefit from the decrease in implementation of the royal will to freeze its tax and fix the price,” according to Akl.

The prices of gasoline (90 octane) increased by 45 fils, and gasoline (95 octane) by 45 fils, during the month of February. Thus, the selling price of 90 octane gasoline in February became 945 fils/liter instead of 900 fils/liter, and the price of gasoline (octane 95) 1185 fils/liter instead of 1140 fils/liter.
