The General Ifta Department confirmed that fasting all or part of the month of Sha`ban is permissible by Sharia, indicating that an exception is made from that, allocating the second half of it to fasting, as this is forbidden by Sharia.
It indicated that fasting is excluded from the prohibition here in certain cases, namely:
ano: Whoever is accustomed to fasting, then he should continue with his habit, as he used to fast Mondays and Thursdays, or fast the days of the white.
secondly: Whoever started fasting Sha’ban from its beginning, such as fasting days from the first half of Sha’ban and days from the second half of it.
Third: Whoever intends to make up for an obligatory fast, a vow, or expiation.
Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said: “These hadiths do not contradict the forbidden hadith of fasting after halfway through Sha’ban; Because the place of inviolability is for one who fasts after halfway and does not reach it. And the place of permissibility, rather the scar is for those who fasted before the half and left after the half or continued; But he joined his fast with fasting on the day of the middle; Or he did not fast because of a missed fast, a vow, or a word.” End. The major jurisprudential fatwas (2/82). God knows.
Virtue of the night of Sha’ban
Concerning the virtue of the night of mid-Sha`ban, there are hadiths that some of the scholars corrected, and others deemed weak, even if they accepted them as regards the virtues of deeds.
Among them is a hadith narrated by Ahmed and al-Tabarani, “God Almighty descends to the lowest heaven on the night of mid-Sha’ban and forgives more than the hair of the sheep of Bani Kalb, a tribe with many sheep.” Al-Tirmidhi said: Al-Bukhari considered it weak.
Among them is the hadith of Aisha – may God be pleased with her – the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – got up from the night and prayed, so he prolonged the prostration until I thought that he had died. May God bless him and grant him peace – has he failed you? Which did not give you your right. I said: No, by God, O Messenger of God, but I thought that you had been taken back for the length of your prostration. He said: “Do you know what night this is?” I said: God and His Messenger know best. He said, “This is the night of the middle of Sha’ban. Indeed, God Almighty looks at His servants on the night of the middle of Sha’ban, so He forgives those who seek forgiveness, and He has mercy on those who ask mercy, and He delays the people of hatred as they are.” Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi via Al-Ala’ bin Al-Harith on her authority, and he said: This Good sender. It means that Al-Ala did not hear from Aisha.
And Ibn Majah narrated in his Sunan with a weak chain of narrators on the authority of Ali – may God be pleased with him – with a chain of transmission traceable back to him – that is, to the Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – “If it is the night of the middle of Sha’ban, stay up that night and fast during its day, for God Almighty descends therein when the sun sets to the lowest heaven and says: Isn’t it I seek forgiveness, so forgive him, if I seek sustenance, then provide for him, if I am afflicted, then heal him, is it not so-and-so, until the dawn comes.”
With these hadiths and others, it can be said: The night of the middle of Sha’ban has merit, and there is no text that forbids that, for the month of Sha’ban has its virtue. One of the months, what do you fast from Sha’ban? He said, “That is a month that people neglect between Rajab and Ramadan.
