King Abdullah II affirmed that the National Assembly, in its two parts, is an essential partner in the comprehensive modernization paths that the government is working to implement, indicating that all institutions must work to move forward in following up the completion and implementation of these paths, for the sake of Jordan’s future.
During his meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace today, Tuesday, with the permanent offices of the Senate and the House of Representatives, he pointed out the need to continue to strengthen cooperation between the two houses and to work in partnership with the government.
The King expressed his thanks to the Senate and the House of Representatives for their spirit of high responsibility in dealing with legislation, and for the constant coordination with the government to serve the national interest.
He noted the importance of the role of the two councils in strengthening channels of communication with citizens to explain the situation transparently, praising the role of notables and representatives in communicating with Arab and international parliaments to support Jordan’s diplomatic efforts.
The King affirmed Jordan’s firm position on the Palestinian issue, referring to the Kingdom’s recent diplomatic efforts to contain the escalation in the Palestinian territories, support the Palestinian National Authority, and continue to care for and protect the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds Al-Sharif from the standpoint of the Hashemite guardianship over it.
He pointed to Jordan’s continuous endeavors to build Arab economic integration and coordinate positions with the brothers to serve the interests of the Kingdom and the nation’s issues, reiterating the need to include the Palestinian brothers in economic cooperation projects in the region.
The King stressed the importance of continuing to provide relief and humanitarian support to the brothers in Syria to mitigate the effects of the earthquake on them, referring to the humanitarian and medical aid that is also being sent to Turkey.
During the meeting, Speaker of the Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, said that combating poverty and unemployment is a priority for all institutions, stressing the need to follow the king’s approach in field communication with citizens and listening to their needs.
He indicated that the Senate will communicate with provincial and municipal councils to enhance coordination and support decentralization.
The Speaker of the Senate valued the King’s efforts in strengthening Jordan’s Arab and international status and protecting national interests, stressing the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Kingdom and the need to confront unilateral Israeli measures.
For his part, Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al-Safadi indicated the parliament’s keenness to enhance communication with citizens, listen to their issues, and explain what the council is doing, as well as communicating with municipal and provincial councils, events and various sectors, and hosting them when discussing any draft law and listening to their views on relevant legislation. with it.
He touched on what the House of Representatives is doing in terms of developing parliamentary work by amending the rules of procedure and the code of conduct in a way that is in line with political modernization and enhances citizens’ confidence in the parliament’s performance, indicating that the amendments will be discussed soon.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives spoke about the “parliamentary diplomacy” that the House of Representatives pursues as a method within parliamentary delegations and mutual visits with the parliaments of brotherly Arab countries and friendly countries, and in the context of Jordan’s policy and diplomacy led by the King.
Members of the permanent offices of the Senate and the House of Representatives spoke in their interventions on a number of local, regional and international issues, praising the King’s diplomatic efforts and stressing the importance of the Hashemite guardianship in protecting and caring for the holy sites in Jerusalem.
They affirmed that cooperation exists with the government on the basis of the flexible separation as defined by the constitution, expressing their support for the modernization paths and their keenness to follow up on their achievement in accordance with the royal directives.
They pointed to the importance of administrative reform and the rehabilitation of cadres and political and administrative leaders in the country, stressing the need to modernize school and university education through the development of curricula and methods, and the promotion of vocational education.
They pointed out the need to encourage investment and provide facilities to investors, in accordance with the new investment law, stressing the importance of dealing firmly and within the law with false news and the phenomenon of bullying through social media.
The meeting was attended by the head of the Royal Hashemite Court, Yusuf Hassan al-Issawi, and the director of the King’s Office, Dr. Jaafar Hassan.
