The Minister of Government Communication, the official spokesperson for the government, Faisal Al-Shboul, said that the dialogue about the return of the “Tik Tok” platform to work in Jordan is still ongoing with the management of the platform at present, and it is a “legal-technical” dialogue through specialized official communication channels.
Al-Shboul added, in an interview he gave to the American network “CNN”, that the government’s policy relies on full openness on social media platforms, but this platform in particular committed major crimes and falsified the reality in a difficult circumstance that we went through.
He explained that the publishing policy of “Tik Tok” differs from other platforms that respond in the event of reports, and they also announced the deletion of more than 300,000 videos related to Jordan.
Al-Shboul stressed that what matters to Jordan is applying publishing standards and adopting policies similar to the publishing policies of other platforms, adding: “We found that there were accounts that were created in a hurry” during that period.
And the Cybercrime Unit had announced, on December 16, that “Tik Tok” services in Jordan had been temporarily suspended, due to the platform’s failure to deal with misuse by its users by glorifying and publishing acts of violence or calls for chaos, coinciding with monitoring what It was circulated with what it called “hate speech, incitement to vandalism, attacks on law enforcement agencies and property, and blocking roads in Jordan.”
