The streets of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, were filled with dogs during the celebration of the Brazilian Carnival, for a “dog costume” competition dubbed Blocao More than 100 dogs participated in it, according to the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper.
As Brazil’s Carnival got underway on Saturday, about 100 dogs in cheerful costumes took to the streets dancing to samba music as they paraded in front of pet lovers in a “dog costume” contest.

The dogs wore different clothes to participate in the competition, including cartoon characters, superheroes, and clowns.
Edson Sianka, 36, brought 12-year-old Saori to the parade, dressed as Minnie Mouse, as well as her two sons dressed in the same outfits. “It’s a great initiative. It’s a good time for pets to socialize,” she said.

Mary Jordau, 52, has been attending the dog costume competition since 2014 and said dog owners should be careful, fetch water and keep them away from hot places.
This event was one of the celebrations that were canceled in the past years due to the spread of the Corona virus, although it began about 20 years ago.
