The Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Khaled Al-Hanifat, chaired a meeting that included the Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Engineer Imad Al-Bazour, the Director of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Dr. Nael Al-Hussami, the Vice President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Muhammad Al-Jitan, and the representative of the dairy industry in the Chamber, Fawaz Al-Shakaa, in the presence of heads Cattle breeders associations and a number of farmers.

According to a statement issued by the ministry today, Saturday, the quantities of milk and the extent to which they cover the needs of the local market were discussed in light of the conditions of foot and mouth disease in a number of shade farms, in which milk production declined during the past days.

Cow breeders stressed the availability of daily quantities of milk to cover the needs of the local market, in light of the success of the measures to contain the disease, the gradual return of recovery to the herds of cows, and the increase in the milk production index.

Cow breeders noted that the quantities of milk naturally decrease in the winter season, in addition to natural and other losses due to infection, and this decrease did not affect the quantities supplied to the markets in light of the decrease in demand for dairy products during the winter season.

It was coordinated to set a meeting to assess the situation after three weeks to find out the quantities received by the factories, to ensure the availability of dairy products on the shelves during the holy month, at the appropriate price and quality, with a daily review by the Ministry in coordination with the associations and the constant readiness to deal with any shortage.

For his part, Al-Hunaifat stressed the importance of the cow sector and the protection of this sector, which, along with other sectors, forms part of the national food security file, in coordination with all industrial and commercial sectors to maintain the production chain.
