8 applications for gas stations and 3 applications for gas cylinder distribution agencies were rejected

The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority received 865 applications for the purpose of obtaining licenses in various sectors during the month of January.

According to data published by the authority on its website, 11 applications were rejected, including 8 applications related to the establishment of a fuel station, and 3 applications to establish an agency to distribute gas cylinders.

The accepted applications were distributed by 507 applications in natural resources, 173 applications in the radiological and nuclear work sector, 28 applications in the electricity and renewable energy sector, and 146 applications in the oil and its derivatives sector.

With regard to applications for natural resources, 470 applications were for obtaining a license or permit for the first time, including 202 licenses for exporting raw materials, 251 licenses for importing raw materials, 5 applications for quarries licenses, 4 licenses for explosives experts, one temporary permit, 4 exploration licenses, and 3 reclamation permits.

As for license or permit renewal requests, there were 30 requests, including 27 for a quarry license, 3 for a reclamation permit, and the remaining 4 requests for waiver and 3 for canceling a license or permit.
In the radiological work sector, the authority received 173 applications, including 98 applications for the first time, and were distributed among 73 applications for an import and export transit permit, 17 institutional licenses and 8 personal applications, while it received 75 applications for license or permit renewal.

In the field of the electricity and renewable energy sector, the authority received 28 applications, distributed among 22 applications for the first time, including 20 applications for public shareholding transmission stations, and two licenses for working persons.

There were 6 requests for renewal of licenses or permits, including a request for a freight station license, and 5 licenses for working people.

The authority accepted 146 applications out of 157 applications related to the oil sector and its derivatives, of which 142 applications were for the first time, distributed as 127 applications for operating a central liquefied petroleum gas facility, 7 applications for establishing a fuel station, 3 initial approvals for establishing an agency for the distribution of liquefied gas cylinders, and 4 applications for importing storage tanks. And liquefied petroleum gas tanks, and a request to import petroleum coke, while it received 4 requests to waive or amend the license or permit.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had previously launched the Public-Private Partnership Council in the field of mining. To raise the sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product, which currently exceeds 7 percent, about 19 percent of the Kingdom’s exports.

The ministry indicated that it is working to advance the sector to raise its economic indicators by increasing its exports by 10.5 percent annually, to reach about $5 billion in 2033.

The authority is working to issue the necessary licenses for exploration, mining rights and quarries, in addition to laying effective foundations for the optimal exploitation of mineral resources by evaluating and conducting technical studies for the mining sector and providing sound scientific guidance and advice to investors in all technical and productive aspects.
