The representative of the therapeutic industries and medical supplies sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Dr. Fadi Al-Atrash, said that Jordan covers 10 percent of the Iraqi market’s need for human medicines.
Al-Atrash added in a statement today, Thursday, on the sidelines of his participation in the private sector delegation currently visiting Iraq, that pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals are among the most prominent Jordanian exports to the Iraqi market, noting that they amounted to nearly $100 million over the past year.
According to al-Atrash, the pharmaceutical forms exported to the Iraqi market vary between pills, capsules, liquid medicines, ointments, drops, sprays, intravenous injections, and other items that meet Iraq’s needs for medicines.
He pointed out that Jordanian medicines enjoy a very high reputation and great competitiveness in the Iraqi market, and have proven their effectiveness and safety and won the confidence of the medical sector and the Iraqi citizen.
And he indicated that brotherly Iraq is one of the first countries in the region to open its markets to Jordanian medicine, and most Jordanian pharmaceutical companies participate in government bids, in addition to their presence in the private sector through offices and scientific laboratories.
He pointed out that there is continuous and joint cooperation between the General Authority for Food and Drug and the Iraqi Ministry of Health, including organizing workshops, training and holding joint scientific courses.
Al-Atrash expressed his hope for continued trade cooperation between Jordan and Iraq, accelerating the registration of Jordanian medicine in the Iraqi market, and facilitating the flow of land and air freight between the two countries.
