The distinctive chandelier, made of bronze with golden-brown patina, is about 134 centimeters long and about 152 centimeters wide, and its value is expected to range between $1.9 million and $3.7 million. A decade later, after Watson’s death, the British painter and friend of Watson, Craxton, discovered the chandelier in an antique shop, bought it and hung it in the music room of his home in Hampstead, north London, and Craxton died in 2009, and the chandelier was sold among his possessions.

Michele McMullan, chief specialist at Christie’s, said the chandelier is a blend of Giacometti’s work and styles unlike anything else she’d seen from the sculptor’s work before. Pleiades, on February 28, in London.
