Al-Bawsala – Last week, what is known in Jordan and the Levant as the “winter square” ended, and the so-called “Saad the Slaughterer” began, which continues during this February. And “Saad the Slaughterer” belongs to what the ancients called it, “the fifties of winter”, and it lasts fifty days, and is divided into 4 periods, which are “Saad the Slaughterer, Saad Al-Khabaya, Saad Al-Saud and Saad Balaa.”
The following is the “Compass” agency presenting a video graph showing the details of this climatic period:
“Saad the Slaughterer” is distinguished by the coldness of the weather and the intensity of the winds, and it ends in the middle of the day on February 13, and the accounts say in it, “There is no dog left but barking,” an indication of the severity of the cold during this period, that is, even street dogs hide for warmth. As for “Saad Balaa,” it begins in the second half of February 13th and ends on February 25th, in which it is said, “No matter how much it rains, the earth quickly swallows its water.”
And in “Saad al-Saud,” which begins on February 26 and ends at noon on March 10, they said, “My pain is spinning with the oud, and my pain is the soul and life,” meaning that during this period the sap begins to circulate in the trunks and branches of trees.
As for “Saad Al-Khabaya”, which begins at noon on March 10 and ends on the 22nd of it, the ancients said in it, “In Saad Al-Khabaya, life emerges and girls walk.” By its end, the fifties end, and spring begins.
