It is worth noting that the Council of Ministers approved in the last quarter of last year an amended system for the traffic points system for the year 2022 AD; With the aim of adding some traffic violations that are constantly repeated and constitute a high percentage of dangerous traffic accidents.

The Public Security Directorate also announced the activation of the traffic points system, as part of a traffic plan aimed at improving the traffic situation, according to the traffic strategy 2022-2024.

If the driver commits at the same time more than one of the violations mentioned in Article 5 of the system, the traffic points allocated to the highest violation will be recorded for him.

All points recorded for drivers who repeat dangerous violations will be recorded through an electronic record in which all necessary information is recorded, such as the number of points, the number of times the driver’s license was suspended, its duration, and the traffic violations and accidents committed by the driver, pointing out that the traffic points will be fixed from the date of issuance of the violation in presence.

The system provides for the suspension of the driving license for the driver whose number of traffic points registered against him exceeds 16 points, in one year, while the points that have been registered for a year will be written off, unless their total reaches the limit that requires the suspension of the driving license (16 points). ).
