Signing a contract for 32 direct flights once a week to Aqaba and Amman

On Friday, Nidal Majali, Commissioner for Tourism and Environment in the Aqaba Economic Zone Authority, announced that a contract had been signed for 32 direct flights Thursday, which will be once a week to Aqaba and to Amman.

Majali pointed out:The kingdomAnd that “this confirms that the achievements and numbers will be for the year 2023 as we see it, through the contracts signed by many tourism and travel agents participating in the Jordanian pavilion, and their number reaches 20 destinations.”

Regarding the number of visitors to Aqaba, he explained that during the year 2022, the number of visitors reached more than 2 million, indicating that the number of hotel reservations in Aqaba exceeded one million transactions.

He stressed that the recovery was at the fastest pace, as numbers were achieved that are higher than the numbers recorded in 2019, indicating that Aqaba overcame the effects of the Corona virus pandemic faster than other cities in the Kingdom in particular and the region more broadly, and we hope for this continuation.

He continued, “We are currently heading with our partners in the Tourism Promotion Authority and the Ministry of Tourism to market Aqaba and Jordan more widely through international travel exhibitions, and our presence in one of the largest exhibitions in Madrid is a goal in highlighting and building new partnerships and agreements with tourism and travel operators in the world.”

And he indicated that the months of March and April are the two most attractive months for tourists and the most thriving for tourism, especially in Aqaba.

Floating library

Al-Majali said that the floating library will dock in Aqaba on January 25 and will remain for 20 days.

The shores of the city of Aqaba receive the “Logos Hope” ship, which carries on board the “largest floating library” in the world, as it includes 4 thousand book titles on various scientific, literary and intellectual knowledge.

The program of the ship, which will open its doors to the public on the second day of its arrival, includes selling books at nominal and reduced prices, and distributing some souvenirs. Such as bags, mugs, pens, medals and bracelets in appreciation for their visit.
