Jordan’s representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Mahmoud Al-Hamoud, said on Wednesday that “Israel continues to displace residents from their homes, including Jerusalem, to change the city’s identity, which constitutes a war crime and a violation of international law.”

Al-Hamoud called, during an open session of the United Nations, for the international community to cooperate to end the violations and not to recognize the illegal reality that Israel is trying to impose through these violations.

He pointed out that the past year was one of the bloodiest years against the Palestinian people, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, as it witnessed an escalation of violence and many were martyred by the bullets of the Israeli occupation, in addition to the destruction of homes, property and civilian facilities.

He pointed out that the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, storming the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif on the 3rd of this month is a condemnable and dangerous development and a push in the region towards more conflict, violence and instability.

He stressed that Israel’s illegal practices are pushing the Middle East region towards more violence and depriving people of their right to peace.

And he continued: “Israel continues to provoke the feelings of a billion Muslims by profaning the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and is pushing towards a religious conflict whose consequences will be dangerous for the entire region, in addition to continuing to impede access to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, as an example of what happened on Tuesday of the interception of the Jordanian ambassador in Tel Aviv (Ghassan Majali). ) upon entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, and this is a behavior we reject.”

Al-Hamoud denounced the “punitive measures” imposed against the Palestinian people and their leadership, warning of their dangerous repercussions on the Palestinian people, which requires the Security Council to act immediately to protect international law and stop illegal Israeli practices in occupied Jerusalem and its sanctities and the rest of the Palestinian land.

Al-Hamoud stressed that Jordan will continue to work with Palestine to fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and establish their independent and sovereign state on the borders of June 4, 1967.
