The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has recently launched a campaign to remove violating billboards on its roads.

The ministry said in a press statement today, Tuesday, that the campaign came to remove the violating billboards that were installed without obtaining prior approvals in this regard.

And she explained that, based on Roads Law No. 24 of 1986, Article 3 of the law stipulates that “the ministry shall be responsible for all affairs and works related to roads in the Kingdom, in accordance with the provisions and powers stipulated in this law.”

The ministry indicated that many of the roads witnessed random installation of advertisements and encroachment by the owners of investment companies in the advertising sector by installing investment billboards without the approval of the ministry, and in violation of the Roads Law and the advertisement fees system according to 75 of 2002.

She pointed out that the campaign aims to achieve justice and apply the law to everyone in order to achieve the interests of companies that invest in renting billboards and removing billboards that attack the road without a license.

The Ministry noted that since the beginning of this year, many measures have been taken to organize advertisements and stop encroachment on roads, by issuing open bids to all on the main roads. In order to achieve the principle of transparency in the investment of billboards, all works managers were instructed not to renew and license any billboards on the roads for the current year, in order to limit them in preparation for re-bidding, in addition to removing all billboards on the roads through their owners and according to the law in the event of failure to remove them.

It indicated that it will soon prepare and offer investment bids for the sites of billboards for the main roads, according to the rules.
