Al-Bawsala – The Department of Antiquities has completed the file of listing the Umm Al-Jimal area on the World Heritage List. To submit it to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO” within two days, according to the director of the department, Fadi Al-Balaawi.
And Al-Balawi considered, on Monday, during the meeting of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives; To discuss the draft general budget law for the fiscal year 2023, the past year is “important” for Jordanian heritage, as we developed 82 projects for archaeological sites in Jordan during the past year.
He said, the Department of Antiquities has completely restored the Aqaba Ring, in addition to rehabilitating the museums of the Roman amphitheater in the downtown area of the capital, Amman. The restoration center in Jerash was also rehabilitated at a cost of 3 million euros as a grant.
“The Department of Antiquities has completed a project to rehabilitate the center of Madaba and the Tafila Museum, in addition to signing an agreement with the Municipality of Salt; To restore the house of Falah Al-Hamad,” according to Al-Balawi.
He pointed out that the collections preservation center will contain more than 300,000 pieces once it is completed at the end of this year.
