Compass – The executive program for the vision of economic modernization approved by the government in the quality of life axis in the urban development and quality of life sectors identified 9 initiatives and 31 priorities, at a total cost of 66 million dinars for the years 2023 and 2025, of which 18 million dinars for the current year.

It includes priorities An initiative to adopt the standards and concepts of future cities During the year 2023, the Prime Ministry will prepare detailed studies for the new city, implement the national urban policy by the Ministry of Local Administration, amend the land use regulation system and its amendments No. 6 of 2007, review and amend the Cities and Villages Regulation Law and its emanating regulations in order to implement the standards of future cities, and establish a secretariat Amman Urban Observatory platform for Oman data, preparing a study to connect suburbs with rapid bus routes / Greater Amman Municipality, preparing a study to find smart solutions for traffic, modernizing the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, the master plan for land use in Aqaba 2022-2032 and in line with the green growth approach and smart cities.

In 2024 and 2025, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation will complete the implementation of an action plan to improve Jordan’s rank in the Legatum indicators of prosperity and quality of life, complete the Amman Municipality and implement smart transport systems to improve public transport service, in cooperation with the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, operating BRT Amman rapid buses. Zarqa, the implementation of the rapid-frequency bus project in its second phase, and the development of joint transportation services, while the station area and the Raghadan complex will be studied and developed, and environmentally friendly recreational parks will be established in cooperation with the municipalities.
The Housing and Urban Development Corporation is also completing studies to construct low-cost housing units.
Late last month, the Council of Ministers approved the executive program for the vision of economic modernization (2023-2025 priorities).
It adopted criteria to determine the priorities of the executive program in terms of readiness, provision of financing, alignment with the matrix of economic reforms and sustainable development goals, and contribution to providing added value for growth and employment.
The program comes as a practical translation of the vision of economic modernization, including its priority initiatives, projects, policies and procedures, which will be implemented by ministries and government institutions, so that the priorities document for the years 2023-2025 will be a starting point for subsequent executive programs, and a basis for contributing to reaching the goals of the 2033 vision for growth. Providing job and investment opportunities.
The program included 183 initiatives, which were selected from among about 380 initiatives that will be implemented through 418 priorities, at a total cost of 2.3 billion dinars until the end of 2025, of which 670 million dinars during 2023.
The program includes reviewing, amending and approving 46 pieces of legislation, action plans to improve Jordan’s ranking in international indicators and reports, and priorities related to women’s economic empowerment.
The program sets macroeconomic targets for the year 2025, which are represented in raising the growth rate of gross domestic product at constant prices to 3 percent, gradually increasing the volume of exports to about 9,713 million dinars, and raising net foreign direct investment to about 1,092 million dinars.
