“Finance of Representatives” discusses the “planning” budget

The Parliamentary Finance Committee discussed, during its meeting today, Sunday, headed by Representative Dr. Nimr Sleihat Al-Abadi, the draft budget of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for the year 2023 and coordination mechanisms between various projects and initiatives, in the presence of Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zina Touqan.

Al-Abadi said that the committee asked the ministry for data; In preparation for holding this meeting, it is related to financing the Syrian refugee response plan, supporting the national water desalination carrier project, details of loans and grants inside and outside the budget, and the extent to which the Audit Bureau monitors these grants, in addition to the current status of the budget under the US grant and the European Union grants.

He added that the committee reviewed, during the session, the projects included in the executive program for the vision of economic modernization for the year 2023 and their financial allocations, the role of the ministry in increasing financial and technical assistance and improving the living conditions of citizens, and the extent of coordination between various projects and initiatives within the framework of comprehensive and comprehensive planning at the national and local levels. Activating partnership with the private sector as one of the ministry’s strategic objectives.

In her turn, Toukan attributed the donation of financial aid related to the Syrian refugee response plan by the supporting countries to the focus on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

She said that Jordan was able to extend the agreement of understanding with the United States of America for a period of 7 years, indicating that the American aid provided to the Kingdom during the year 2023 falls between economic and military, with a financial value of one billion and 650 million dollars.

Toukan indicated that the ministry will finalize the preparation of the executive program, in coordination with all ministries and concerned authorities, stressing the importance of seeing modernization as a roadmap for the next ten years to enable Jordan to benefit from the various potentials and opportunities in the national economy and benefit from its competitive advantages.

She said that the Ministry of Planning briefed the various donors and international financing institutions on plans for political, economic and administrative modernization, in order to formulate bilateral programs with them to support the implementation of projects emanating from national priorities for the next stage, adding that the Ministry will work continuously to put the donor community and financing institutions in the form of developments in the implementation process. .
