The Jordanian parliamentary delegation, headed by Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al-Safadi, concluded its official visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, which came at the invitation of Iraqi Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi.

The parliamentary delegation, in the presence of the Jordanian Ambassador Muntaser Al-Uqla, held 20 meetings with Iraqi officials, leaders and representatives of the various political blocs and currents in the Iraqi parliament.

The visit concluded with the affirmation of the various Iraqi components of their support for the bilateral Jordanian-Iraqi projects on the one hand, and the tripartite with Egypt on the other hand, in a position consistent with the outcomes of the Baghdad Conference for Partnership and Cooperation that Jordan hosted last month at the invitation of King Abdullah II.

The leaders of the Iraqi political blocs unanimously agreed that the Jordanian positions in support of Iraq under the leadership of King Abdullah II received great appreciation in the hearts of the Iraqis, affirming their support for all steps of rapprochement with Jordan, and supporting the firm Jordanian position led by the king in defending the Palestinian cause and carrying him to the trusteeship of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic sanctities. The Jordanian parliamentary delegation and the leaders of the Iraqi blocs pointed out the importance of removing minor impurities that contributed to delaying the implementation of joint projects, stressing that the positions of both countries and cooperation in the fight against terrorism and Jordan’s support for the efforts of the success of the Iraqi political process, non-interference in Iraq’s internal affairs and control of its borders during the war on a gang Terrorist ISIS, all of which contribute to accelerating the pace of implementation of projects that benefit the two brotherly countries.

He stressed that Jordan stands at the same distance from all political currents in Iraq, and when the terrorist ISIS gang began its criminal actions in Iraq, Jordan stood by the King’s directives by the side of the brotherly Iraqi people with all its components, and was keen not to pass plans to displace Christians from the east, and refused to target any component. And the former Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, confirmed that Jordan remained the support and aid for Iraq, during the era of the late King Hussein and the era of King Abdullah II, and many Iraqis used to seek refuge in Jordan and find a warm embrace in it.

Abdul-Mahdi affirmed his support for all joint Jordanian-Iraqi projects, stressing the importance of starting the Basra-Aqaba pipeline, to be one of the Iraqi alternatives and options for exporting oil.

While the head of the Babylon movement, Rayan al-Kaldani, said, We will not forget the positions of King Abdullah and Jordan in embracing the Christian component after the criminal operations committed against them by the terrorist ISIS gang in Nineveh, Mosul and other areas.

He stressed that his bloc in Parliament would be supportive of bills related to Jordanian-Iraqi cooperation, pointing out that the Chaldeans and other Christian components appreciate Jordan’s embrace of the best of their youth and families when they were forced from their land after the barbarism of the ISIS terrorist gang.

In turn, the head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Hammam Baqir Hamoudi, said that the Jordanian-Iraqi relationship is deep and we look with great appreciation for the positions of King Abdullah II, pointing to the importance of working to remove the impurities between the two countries at the popular level and clarifying some positions and impressions that may be in some of them incorrect and require Go beyond official meetings to meetings by civil society institutions and popular forces in both countries.

The leader of the National Approach Party (Al-Fadila) Abd al-Hussein al-Moussawi confirmed that Jordan had not recorded any negative interference towards Iraq, but rather had help and support at the time of adversity, stressing the importance of the Jordanian delegation’s visit to overcome obstacles in front of joint cooperation projects.

The head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc, Harim Kamal Agha, affirmed the appreciation of the people of the region for the king’s positions in support of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, especially during the war against the terrorist ISIS gang, stressing that his bloc in Parliament will support the steps of rapprochement with Jordan and the implementation of the agreed projects.
