The House of Representatives, during a session held today, Wednesday, headed by Speaker of the Council Ahmed Al-Safadi and in the presence of the Cabinet, approved the draft law amending the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Law for the year 2022.
The parliament approved the draft law, as stated by the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, after an extensive discussion on the draft articles.
The reasons for the draft law were to oblige foreign companies to register with the Companies Control Department before registering with the authority, and to cancel the reference to the social services tax in line with the abolition of its law, and for the tax system in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority to comply with tax standards and rules.
On the other hand, the Council referred the “70th” annual report of the Audit Bureau for the year 2021 to the Parliamentary Finance Committee.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration, Tawfiq Krishan, said that the Prime Minister formed a committee headed by the Minister of State for Prime Minister Affairs, to review the clarifications contained in the Audit Bureau reports, as many of them were corrected, and some of them were transferred to the Attorney General.
Al-Safadi started the session, with the obituary of the former Prime Minister, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Majali, who passed away to the mercy of God Almighty yesterday evening, Tuesday, when he called on the audience to read Al-Fatihah on the soul of the deceased.
The President of the Council adjourned the session, which was presided over by the First Vice-President of the Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khalayleh, to a date to be determined later.
