The head of the Syndicate of Owners of Clearance and Goods Transportation Companies, Dhaifallah Abu Aqoula, warned of the return of the series of ports disruption, which is the main nerve of the Jordanian economy, calling for the need to remove bureaucracy in implementing decisions.

Abu Aqoula also called on the Aqaba Economic Zone Authority to speed up finding a mechanism to return the money paid for flooring as a result of the truck strike, and not to circumvent the periods to deduct sums from breakdowns, in which a cabinet decision was issued stipulating that no flooring allowance or other fees be collected as a result of the strike.

Stressing that the value of these allowances is estimated at millions and would move the clearance market and help companies to conduct their business and clear their goods as soon as possible and at the lowest cost, which will reflect positively on the companies’ business.

Abu Aqoula pointed out that the number of containers absorbed and stored during the strike period exceeded (13) thousand containers, thousands of Roro cars, tons of iron and other goods of local clearance or passing through transit, which raised the value of fees that are supposed to return to their owners as soon as possible.

Abu Aqoula said, despite the decision of the Council of Ministers and the authority not to collect, the Container Port Company still collects the floor fees, and this is considered a violation of the decision of the Council of Ministers, stressing the need to return those funds to their owners, which were collected by the Container Port Company and the Aqaba Company for the management and operation of ports as soon as possible. .
