Decrease and stability in the prices of most food supplies in varying proportions

A comparative study by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply of the prices of 154 commodities during last December compared to the previous November showed a decrease and stability in the prices of 145 of them.

According to the study, there was a decrease in the prices of 14 commodities, most notably fresh chicken by 3 percent, and some types of vegetables, including cucumbers and eggplant, by a rate ranging between 15 and 20 percent. The prices of 131 commodities, most notably oils, meat, legumes, manufactured materials, most types of sugar and milk, and most types of rice, stabilized. The prices of 9 items increased, including two brands of rice by 2-5 percent, one brand of sugar with varying rates of 3-7 percent, and table eggs by 8-9 percent.

The Ministry confirmed that it constantly monitors the prices of supply commodities locally and monitors changes that occur in their prices globally, in addition to monitoring shops to follow up on their commitment to the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and other legislation governing the market.

And she indicated that she will continue to study and monitor local commodities to find out any changes that may occur to them and take appropriate measures to ensure their stability, as well as continue her monitoring tours of markets and shops to ensure that merchants adhere to the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and take measures against violators.
