The Parliamentary Reform Bloc called for the formation of a national salvation government from political figures who enjoy the confidence of the Jordanian citizen, in light of the increasing volume of strikes that hit the transport sector in protest against fuel prices and the government’s failure to respond to popular demands for lower prices.

The bloc said in a statement issued by it:compassA copy of it, it follows the events of strikes that included several sectors working in transport, which demand a reduction in fuel prices, as the successive hikes in fuel prices have reached an extent unbearable by the citizen, who has been exhausted by the government with the policy of collection, and its permanent reliance on his pocket to increase its resources, as the price hike affects Fuel affects all industrial, agricultural and commercial sectors in the country in a negative way, which reverts to the citizen with high prices that affect all the requirements of his life and daily living.

The statement stated: The Islah bloc has warned several times of the government’s policy based on oppressing the citizen, suppressing his freedoms, draining his pocket, neglecting his basic needs, and demanding an increase in the salaries of working and retired civil and military employees, and carrying out general reforms that include the political and economic aspects, working to save the country from what His conditions reached him from bad, and prevented the country from reaching – as a result of the government’s confusion – to a state of chaos with unimaginable consequences, but the response of all concerned parties was almost non-existent.

The Islah bloc pointed out that the increasing strikes in the transport sector are evidence of what we have warned about, and an indication that the continuous approach of governments is leading the country to a stage that does not bode well and does not give cause for optimism, and the possibility of strikes expanding to include other sectors, as a result of the government’s intransigence, which has become part of the problem. It is ineligible to continue managing the affairs of the state.

He stressed that the peaceful expression of opinion and the demand for rights is a constitutional right guaranteed by the constitution.

In its statement, the bloc presented a number of demands, chief among them: the formation of a national salvation government of political figures who enjoy the confidence of the Jordanian citizen.

It also demanded the abolition of the tax imposed on fuel, which is the main reason for its high price.

In her statement, she stressed the need to reconsider the existing tax policy, especially the sales tax, stressing at the same time the need to cancel decisions to raise fuel prices.

The statement pointed out that respect for the citizen’s right to freedom of opinion and expression is constitutionally protected.

It also called for lifting the security grip on the public life of Jordanians, and stopping referring citizens to the State Security Court.

In its statement, the bloc said: We demand our colleagues in the House of Representatives to reject the draft budget law for the year 2023, as it is the government’s economic plan, and on it all its procedures and decisions are based on raising prices, and that the parliament takes its role and constitutional position in finding a government that will get the country out of the political and economic crises, and meet the demands of the street.
