Commercial sector elections tomorrow, who attended

Tomorrow, Saturday morning, the commercial sector throughout the Kingdom will go to the polls to choose its representatives in the boards of directors of chambers of commerce and representatives of the commercial sectors for the year 2022, after it was postponed for a week due to the lack of a quorum for the meeting of the General Authority of Chambers of Commerce.

The voting process begins with those who attended from eight in the morning until seven in the evening, while the number of voters who are entitled to participate in the voting process is 27,982 merchants.

There are 240 candidates running for the elections of the boards of directors of the 16 chambers of commerce throughout the Kingdom, including two women in the capital, Amman, in addition to 23 others running for the elections of the ten commercial sectors that will join the board of directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce.

The Independent Election Commission confirmed its readiness to hold the 2022 elections for members of the boards of directors of chambers of commerce and representatives of commercial sectors throughout the Kingdom, through the preparation and implementation of awareness and education plans for the electoral process.

The elections will be held in the Chambers of Commerce of Amman, Zarqa, Rusaifa, Irbid, Ramtha, Mafraq, Jerash, Ajloun, Madaba, Aqaba, Ma’an, Karak, the southern shrine district, Tafila, and the southern Shuna district, while neither 9 candidates were nominated for the Salt Chamber of Commerce, which is the same number of members of the Board of Directors.

The body that supervises the conduct of the elections worked on training the heads and members of the committees supervising the administration of the elections in the field, preparing the voter records and electoral cards, ensuring the readiness of the electronic link, and accrediting journalists, media professionals, and local and international observers as a guarantee of integrity that the body followed.

In addition, the number of candidates for the elections of the ten commercial sectors that will join the Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber is 23 candidates throughout the Kingdom, distributed among the sectors of health, medicine and its supplies, financial and banking, services and consulting, and others.

The candidates are also distributed in the sectors of cars, heavy machinery and accessories, communications, information technology, clothing, novoti, jewelry, foodstuffs, construction, building materials, home and office furniture, stationery, electricity and electronics.

The contribution of the trade and services sector to the GDP at current prices for the first half of this year amounted to 54.7 percent, distributed among the trade, restaurants and hotels sectors by 8.8 percent, and transport and communications by 8.4 percent.

The percentage was also distributed among the financial, real estate and business services sectors 20.3 percent, agriculture and fishing 4.1 percent, construction 3 percent, electricity and water 1.3 percent, and personal and social services 8.8 percent.

The gross domestic product at current prices during the first half of this year amounted to 15.921 billion dinars, compared to 15.182 billion dinars for the same period last year 2021.
