The assistant director of the Department of Payment Systems, Local Banking Operations and Financial Inclusion at the Central Bank of Jordan, Muhammad al-Najjar, said on Thursday that the Central Bank of Iraq will transfer pensions to more than 200,000 Iraqis residing in Jordan monthly and gradually.

Al-Najjar added, to The Kingdom, that the monthly value of salaries transferred to Iraqis residing in Jordan is more than 100 million dollars, as they will be deposited with banks operating in Jordan in the accounts of Iraqi retirees opened for this purpose.

This step comes as part of the Central Bank of Jordan’s support for the (Bani) platform, which is the payment system operated by the Regional Corporation for Clearing and Settlement of Arab Payments, owned by the Arab Monetary Fund.

The central banks of Jordan, Egypt and Iraq announced a joint Arab initiative to launch a service to pay the salaries of retirees residing in Arab countries using this platform.

The service aims to contribute to increasing financial inclusion rates and improving the experience of beneficiaries by improving the efficiency of cross-border salary payments.
