78 percent of the deficit in financing the response plan to the Syrian crisis

The financing deficit of the Jordanian response plan to the Syrian crisis, from the beginning of this year until the end of last month, reached 78.4 percent, according to data from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

The Ministry’s data shows that the volume of funding reached, until the end of last November, 492.4 million dollars, out of 2.28 billion dollars, the volume of financing the requirements of the response plan.

Data from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation indicated that the deficit in financing the plan amounted to about $1.78 billion, or 78.4 percent, by the end of November of this year, out of the annual budget allocated to support Syrian refugees in Jordan.

According to the latest update of the data, the plan’s funding value was distributed to 289.4 million dollars for refugee support, and about 77.5 million dollars to support host communities.

The plan also funded the infrastructure and institutional capacity-building item with about $98.8 million, and the public treasury support item with financing of about $21.8 million, while the plan funded the response to the Corona pandemic with about $4.7 million.

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zina Touqan, said during the hosting of the Jordanian Children’s Agency (Petra) for a dialogue on the paths of modernization, that Jordan is constantly calling on the international community to assume its responsibility and provide appropriate support and financing to refugees.

She added that the international community’s retreat from supporting refugees directly affected the value of foreign aid provided to the Kingdom, as a result of the consequences of the political and economic crises the world is witnessing, indicating that the government will continue its humanitarian role in providing the necessary services to Syrian refugees within the available capabilities, in addition to its commitment to its policy of hosting refugees. until their voluntary return to their country.
