The Forum of Jordanian Women Parliamentarians rejected Mira’s ill-fated novel, saying that the Ministry of Culture presented content that was not appropriate to the values of the Jordanian people.
And he affirmed, in a press statement issued today, Wednesday, by its president, Representative Amal Al-Shaqran, that he stands by our faith, our religious values, and the honorable morals, chastity, and decency we were raised on that express our Jordanian identity.
Al-Shaqran stressed the need to find out the repercussions and circumstances of this incident, calling for holding all those who had a hand in this abuse accountable.
Al-Shaqran said, “We are a people with values and our historical heritage derived from religious legitimacy. Our victorious Hashemite leadership is not only a political leadership, but rather a legacy of a belief and a religion to which millions of people belong.
She said, “We are a people who hold the values of tolerance, freedom, justice, and realization of truth. There is no place among us for those who promote these poisonous ideas, whether through novels, stories, or films.”
Al-Shaqran added, “We respect culture, as our Arab library contains thousands of literature, including stories, novels, poetry, and literature that transcends the highest values and respects its society, customs and traditions.”
