The Jerash Agriculture Directorate has started selling fruit trees to farmers at nominal prices, according to the instructions and regulations governing the Ministry of Agriculture, according to the director of the nursery, Faisal Bahjat Al-Sawalmeh, on Saturday.
Al-Sawalmeh said, “The trees that the Jerash Agriculture Directorate started selling to farmers are olive, pomegranate, pistachio, and fig trees.”
Al-Sawalmeh added that the nursery produced about 150,000 fruit trees this year, with an increase of 30,000 from last year.
And he indicated that the Faisal nursery has approved a training center for newly graduated agricultural engineers, farmers and university students because it contains modern agricultural systems (hydroponic, aquaculture, fish farming, and organic farming), as it has trained about a thousand trainees since the beginning of this year.
It is noteworthy that Faisal’s agricultural nursery was established in 1963, with an area of about 500 dunums, and is located about 10 kilometers south of Jerash Governorate.
