The 16th anniversary of the death of the former observer general of the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdul Rahman Khalifa

Wednesday 11/23 marks the 16th anniversary of the death of Mr. Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Khalifa al-Nsour, may God have mercy on him, the second general observer of our group in Jordan, one of the leaders and founders of the group.

He is the preacher Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Khalifa al-Nsour (1919-2006 AD), a Jordanian parliamentarian, who had the longest term in leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan from (1953-1994 AD), where he assumed the position of the second observer of the group after His Eminence Sheikh Haj Abdul Latif Abu Qura..and he had a role He is recognized in the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Sheikh Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Khalifa al-Nusour was born in the city of Salt in 1919 AD, and he belongs to the al-Nusour clan of Saltiya. He received his first education in (al-Kuttab) from Sheikh Afif Zaid, where he read the Qur’an at his hands, then he studied at the Salt School at the beginning of its opening. After completing the tenth grade, he was sent on a mission to the Khadoori Agricultural College in Tulkarem, from which he obtained a diploma in agriculture, then entered the Teachers Institute and obtained its certificate. Then he obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Institute of Law in Jerusalem.

He began his working life as a teacher at Hawara Elementary School, then at Al-Ramtha School, then left education to join the Institute of Law in Jerusalem. Where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in law. After his graduation, he worked as a lawyer for two years, then the Judicial Council in Amman chose him to be a conciliation judge in Ma’an, then he was transferred to serve as a public prosecutor in Salt, then he was transferred with the same position to Irbid, then Karak, then Madaba to hold the position of a judge there. Where he resigned in 1953 AD at the request of the Shura Council of the Muslim Brotherhood, which elected him as the general observer of this group.

Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Khalifa held several positions, including that he worked as a public prosecutor and a judge. After graduating, he worked as a lawyer for two years, then the Judicial Council in Amman chose him to be a conciliation judge in Ma’an, then he was transferred to serve as a public prosecutor in Salt, then he was transferred with the same job to Irbid, then Karak , then Madaba to hold a position as a judge there; Where he resigned in 1953 AD at the request of the Shura Council of the Muslim Brotherhood, which elected him as the general observer of this group. Then he became a member of the Jordanian Parliament in the period from 1956 AD – 1961 AD. Finally, he served as president of the Islamic Charitable Center Association from 1963 until the year 2000 AD.

Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Khalifa became acquainted with the call of the Muslim Brotherhood early when he was a student at Khadouri College in Palestine, and from the Egyptian Brotherhood and others who were visiting Jordan, and from the Islamic bulletins that were reaching Palestine.

He was arrested several times and imprisoned because of his personal positions and those of the group he heads. He also has his distinguished positions under the dome of Parliament. Where he became a deputy to the nation after winning the 1956 elections.

After the year 1968 AD, and a year after the June Nakba, Muhammad Abd al-Rahman formed the Committee (Saving Jerusalem) on the occasion of one year since the Jewish occupation of the Holy City.

During his reign, the group had an important role in the global Islamic movement, when he transferred it from the role of (an association) to the role of an organized group, and from a group concerned with charitable work, to an active movement in the Jordanian political, social, intellectual and economic reality.

During his reign, the group received several symbols, including Amjad Al-Zahawi, Abu Al-A’la Al-Mawdudi, Nawab Safavi, Sayyid Qutb, Hassan Al-Hudaybi, Muhyiddin Al-Qalibi, Alal Al-Fassi and others.

Among his works is that he sent letters to parents in Arab and Islamic countries in 1993 AD calling on them to renounce division, remove differences among them, mobilize determination to restore Al-Aqsa and the sanctities, and lift injustice from the Palestinians under the yoke of the brutal Jewish occupation, which surpassed Nazism in its barbarism and aggression.

May God have mercy on Abu Majid and forgive him and send him down to the ranks of the righteous

Where he lived his entire life for Islam in its comprehensive concept through his call, to which he was loyal more than himself, and he was not aspiring for money, position, or fame, so God’s satisfaction and worship were his goals.
