Ahmed Al-Khalayleh won the position of the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives

Deputy Dr. Ahmed Al-Khalayleh won the position of first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives in its second regular session over his rival, MP Khaled Abu Hassan, during the session held by the parliament, this evening, Sunday, headed by Ahmed Al-Safadi, and in the presence of the Ministry’s authority.

Al-Khalayleh received 61 votes, while Abu Hassan received 53 votes, and 10 ballot papers were cancelled.

In the first round, Al-Khalayleh got 36 votes, Abu Hassan got 34 votes, MPs Dr. Abdul Rahim Al-Maayeh got 21 votes, and Hussein Al Harasis got 22 votes, as none of the candidate deputies was able to decide the result, which prompted Safadi according to the rules of procedure to A second round is held between the two candidates with the highest number of votes.

The House of Representatives had elected Safadi as its speaker over his rival, Dr. Firas Al-Sawair.
Safadi decided to adjourn the session until tomorrow morning, Monday; To complete the election of members of the permanent office and parliamentary committees.
