Customs thwarts smuggling of “flavors” and electronic cigarettes

The media spokesperson for the Customs Department stated that Jordanian customs cadres working in the Omari customs center, in coordination with the security services, managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle 2850 packs of electronic cigarette flavors (juice), in addition to 3,150 electronic hookahs and cigarettes, which were seized during Careful inspection of a truck coming to the center loaded with (food) hidden in a tight technical manner.

For his part, the Director General of Jordan Customs, Customs Brigade, Eng. Jalal Al-Qudah praised the great efforts and efficiency of customs officials through their control of many qualitative and distinctive cases, pointing out that the Customs Department is constantly working to improve and develop the performance of its cadres working in all locations within the latest methods and techniques approved globally. All efforts and energies are being exerted to combat smuggling and commercial fraud; To achieve the department’s objectives, which include protecting the national economy and protecting citizens from counterfeit and fraudulent materials.

It is noteworthy that these types of cigarettes are not identical and are often counterfeit and adulterated, and therefore need laboratory tests by the specifications, health and the competent authorities because they contain harmful and toxic substances that affect the health and safety of the citizen.
