The Council of Ministers decided to make amendments to its previous decisions related to the issuance of ordinary Jordanian passports (without a national number) for the purposes of encouraging investment. With the aim of encouraging investment, in line with the amended bases for obtaining Jordanian citizenship through investment.

The new amendments stipulated that the actual investment volume for each investor (the facility, equipment, land on which the investment is based, and the actual value of one production cycle) should not be less than (400) thousand dinars in the capital governorate and its development areas, and (200) thousand dinars in the rest of the governorates and development areas. In which.

It also stipulated that the number of Jordanian workers subject to social security in the facility for each partner should not be less than (20) employees in the capital governorate and its development areas, and (10) employees in the rest of the governorates and development areas therein.

The amendments also stipulated that investment should be in sectors that add value to the Jordanian economy and promote development projects, including the productive sectors: industrial, tourism, educational, health, agricultural, and others, and the commercial and service sectors (car dealerships, showrooms, restaurants, and warehousing). drug stores, pharmaceutical materials and supplies, navigation and marine transport and housing companies).

It also included that each investor has (75) Jordanian employees registered with the Public Institution for Social Security in the governorates of the capital, Irbid, Zarqa and their development areas, and (50) Jordanian employees in other governorates and development areas in them, and at least one year has passed since their subscription before submitting the application. , provided that they are kept until the expiry of the passport, provided that it will not be renewed in the future in the event of non-compliance with keeping this number, regardless of the size and type of investment.

The Council of Ministers also approved the basis for renewing ordinary Jordanian passports (without a national number) for the purposes of encouraging investment for those holding them before 2014, so that the renewal is approved if all the amended conditions mentioned above are met for a period of five years.

The grounds included that in the event that the above conditions are met, with the exception of the availability of the number of Jordanian employees registered with the Public Institution for Social Security, Jordanian passports (without a national number) are renewed for a period of three years. They obtained it without specific bases, and without specifying the sectors in which they invested.

In the event that the investor fulfills the conditions mentioned in the above amendments, the special committee to consider applications for obtaining ordinary Jordanian passports (without a national number) for investors shall submit its recommendations to the Minister of Interior, with the necessary justifications, and accordingly the investor will be granted a Jordanian passport (without a national number). For a period of three years for the first time, and it is renewed if the conditions continue to be met for a period of five years, or for a period of three years in the event that the investor who obtained the temporary passport before 2014 did not fulfill the condition related to the number of Jordanian workers registered with Social Security as mentioned above.

The investor’s husband, his unmarried sons and daughters, and his parents are also granted an ordinary Jordanian passport (without a national number) according to the investor if he fulfills the conditions.
