Entry permit for freight vehicles to specific streets “annual and free”

The Director of the Traffic Department of the Capital, Colonel Raed Al-Assaf, confirmed, on Thursday, that the call for drivers and owners of vehicles designated for freight to review them to obtain “specific permits for the times and places that are prohibited and permitted to enter the streets,” is in line with the applicable traffic law.
He pointed out that the streets of Istiklal, Queen Rania and others require a permit that specifies the time of movement for freight vehicles.
Article (36) Clause (4) of Traffic Law No. (49) of (2008) states that “Any person who commits any of the following violations shall be punished with a fine of 30 dinars: Entry of freight vehicles with a total weight of more than 12 tons at the prohibited times and places. without obtaining a permit or in violation of the terms of the permit.”
“There is no obstruction to the movement of work, but rather facilitation,” according to Al-Assaf, who confirmed that the permit is “free” and annual and is obtained through the Traffic Department.
On Tuesday, the Central Traffic Department, affiliated to the Public Security Directorate, called on drivers and owners of freight vehicles to review them to obtain “specific permits for the times and places that are prohibited and allowed to enter the streets.”
According to a press release previously issued by the administration, this comes in accordance with Article (36) Clause (4) of the Traffic Law No. (49) of (2008), which states that “anyone who commits any of the following violations shall be punished with a fine of 30 dinars: Cargo vehicles with a total weight of more than 12 tons in the prohibited times and places without obtaining a permit or in violation of the permit conditions.
