Director of the Jordanian Labor Observatory, Ahmed Awad, said that the Jordanian economy needs many experiences, skills and specialization.

Awad added in his speech to “Roya”, on Tuesday, that the Jordanian economy market has grown in the past decades, contrary to what the governments planned for the expansion of the Jordanian economy.

He pointed out that most of the experiences and job opportunities that the Jordanian economy generates need technical, technical, manual skills. Few Jordanians work in them, such as working in the agricultural sector, quarries, and hotels, where expatriate workers are turned to when local labor is not available.

Awad indicated that the government’s task is to organize the labor market through the Ministry of Labor and its support agencies, to know the economic sectors and the extent of their needs of non-Jordanian manpower.

The director of the Jordanian Labor Observatory considered that there is a weakness in technical and vocational education, including agricultural, and that there is no labor force in the agricultural sector, so expatriate workers are turned to.

Awad attributed the high unemployment rates in Jordan to the slow growth of the economy, in addition to the distortion of the education system.
