Compass – Consumer Protection welcomed the initiative called by a number of citizens related to the abolition of mourning houses and contentment with offering condolences for the soul of the deceased at the cemetery.

Dr. Muhammad Obeidat, Head of Consumer Protection, said that in consumer protection we had previously appealed to citizens to limit the duty of condolences to one day instead of three days, in order to reduce the burden on the family of the deceased and the mourners who come from far places, and that certain hours be set to receive mourners from relatives, relatives and close friends From the funeral home. Because condolences are now a heavy burden on the family of the deceased on the one hand, and on the mourners on the other hand, especially if the place of condolences is far away in remote and remote areas. The first is that the duty of condolences is offered through phones or through social media. Also, the period of three consecutive days for the independence of mourners has become a great burden on the family of the deceased. It is unreasonable for them to remain three continuous days while receiving mourners from ten in the morning until midnight, leaving their jobs and interests under difficult economic conditions.

Obaidat added that reviving the Sunnah of the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and following it in the correct manner, would be by relieving the families of the deceased (the dead) from the trouble of additional expenses, which became a terrifying concern for them, as it sometimes reached thousands of dinars, between the price of food offered to mourners or a fee. Houses, coffee, water, dates and other costs. It is better to give this wasted money to the poor, the needy and the people of knowledge as charity, perhaps this charity will be his intercessor on the Day of Judgment.

Obeidat also appealed to citizens to respect the sanctity of the dead and his family, as he sometimes notes that mourning homes have become a place for social gatherings between people and for side conversations, entertainment and bullying of the dead’s family whose financial condition is weak and they cannot provide food for the mourners.

Obeidat also warned against turning mourning homes into a means of bragging by some rich and well off people who are able to provide all forms and types of food and service, which constitutes this scene a reason for class disparity between members of the same society and leaves a negative impact on the hearts of some poor who are unable to provide such Things, and may be a reason to sever the bonds of love and familiarity between members of the same community.
