The Compass – The retirees of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company renewed their sit-in in front of the company’s building, to demand the reinsurance of health insurance under the company’s umbrella, and in rejection of the company’s board of directors’ decision to grant them the applicable health insurance for retired MPs and dignitaries.

Zaid Al-Qarala, one of the protesters, said that the company’s board chairman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Thneibat, still refuses to meet with them and listen to their demands, despite their sit-in many times.

And Al-Qarala, during his speech to the “Jordanian Labor Observatory”, indicated that the decision of Al-Thneibat to grant them insurance for retired deputies and dignitaries came without their consultation, and stressed that this decision is totally rejected, because they are retired from the private sector and not from the government sector.

He noted that the only thing they want is to withdraw their health insurance from the current insurance company and return it under the company’s umbrella as it was in 2000.

Al-Qaralla indicated that the current insurance company put some obstacles in the way of insurance, as it canceled the approval of many treatments in pharmacies, such as the treatment of chronic diseases, and the accreditation of many doctors, and placed obstacles in the way of obtaining approvals when reviewing hospitals or medical laboratories.

The retirees confirmed that their sit-in will continue, and will be renewed every week until the company retracts its decision regarding granting them government insurance, and meets their demands related to their previous insurance.

In turn, the CEO of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, Eng. Abdul-Wahab Al-Rawad, explained that the company’s board of directors’ decision regarding the application of the health insurance system in force for retirees of notables and representatives to the retirees of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company is optional and not mandatory.

Al-Ruwad explained that the decision of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, in its session No. (5) on August 29, 2022, related to the application of the health insurance system for retired notables and representatives to the company’s retirees; Leave the door open for them and according to their desire to benefit from it or to remain on the current system in place.
