“Guarantee Hotels” .. Labor demands include stopping the threat and arbitrary dismissal

The Compass – The General Union of Workers in Public Services, Liberal Professions, Communications and Information Technology, the IHG Hotel Group, owned by the Social Security Corporation, whose board of directors is chaired by the Minister of Labor, called for an immediate halt to the procedures for arbitrary dismissal and termination of services against workers, and to return the dismissed to their jobs, stressing This is in violation of the provisions of the Labor Law and applicable defense orders.

This came in a book that included labor demands that the union addressed to the regional director of the hotel group, which employs about 1,600 workers, namely: (Crowne Plaza Amman, Crowne Plaza Dead Sea, Crowne Plaza Petra, Intercontinental Hotel & Resort Aqaba, Holiday Inn Dead Sea ), in which it called for a joint meeting to discuss the demands within two weeks, based on the Labor Law.

The book of demands, which the Ministry of Labor turned into a labor dispute in accordance with the procedures for settling collective labor disputes stipulated by the law, included stopping the “threats and intimidation carried out by some managers, especially in the Crowne Plaza Amman Hotel, and providing job security for all hotel employees without exception.” .

The labor demands included adherence to the provisions of the Labor Law by disbursing the minimum wage allowance (260 dinars) away from fraud procedures, stopping the discrimination process and the mood in the disbursement of annual increases and adjustments to employees’ salaries.

The demands also included unifying the payment of transportation allowances for all employees without discrimination. The thirteenth salary was paid to all hotel employees, similar to the employees of the Crowne Plaza Amman Hotel. Besides, disbursing the cost of living allowance to all employees in all hotels at the rate of 50 dinars per month, and working to improve the health insurance contract for workers, so that it is at a high level and meets the needs of its beneficiaries.

According to the book, the union stressed the need to respond to the demands in order to provide the appropriate job atmosphere for hotel workers, by granting them their just rights, maintaining job security, and supporting psychological stability and social security for them.
