The Jordanian Bar Association has agreed with the Supreme Islamic Commission in Jerusalem to organize safe mechanisms to preserve Palestinian real estate in Jerusalem and prevent its diversion to suspicious parties by the occupation.

This came during the signing of a memorandum of understanding and joint cooperation between the Jordanian Bar Association, represented by its president, Yahya Abu Aboud, and the Supreme Islamic Commission in Jerusalem, represented by its president, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri.

The agreement included providing support for Jerusalem lawyers to document and follow up the crimes of the occupation in Jerusalem at the international level, providing them with legal support and training, as well as preparing specialized legal studies that prove the religious, legal and historical rights of Jerusalemites.

The documentation operations also include violations by the occupation forces at the level of arbitrary detention that affect the citizens of Jerusalem and the guards and employees of the holy sites and endowments, and what is related to violating the sanctities and finding mechanisms to establish the rights of Jerusalemites in their individual and collective property and seeking to collect and highlight the available historical documents.

It included the formation of a joint committee to develop a detailed program for the implementation of the memorandum, and to agree to enhance efforts to support the steadfastness of Jerusalemites and preserve the identity of Jerusalem and its holy sites. The Bar Association had called on Jordanian lawyers to resist normalization and impose disciplinary penalties against them in case of interfering with the diversion of Palestinian lands to the occupation, and obligating lawyers not to organize agencies and agreements related to the sale of land in Palestine.
